From the time that I could hold pencil and brush, I’ve been drawing or painting. I share a strong natural affinity/empathy with animals of all types—especially dogs.
Happily, I was born and raised in a small rural town environment. For me, animals were abundant as close companions and for art studies. Basically, I’m a self-taught artist although I did gain some art basics during Junior/Senior high school. I attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco. While there, I studied drawing, painting, illustration, commercial art and TV Story board. I have experience in just about all art mediums, but most often use pencil, ink or acrylic paint.
My artistic “style” is realistic although I have also created abstract and surrealistic artwork. In the realistic style, I do not seek to reproduce a “camera perfect” image. Rather, I render my artistic impressions of the joy and beauty, as well as, the charm and personality that I see and feel present within my animal subjects. Eyes mirror the soul, it is said, and eyes seem to be my “signature” within my art. While working, I follow my instincts wherever I naturally “feel myself” being led.
